These terms govern your use of the PictureBook app. Your subscription is also covered by Apple’s standard End User License Agreement; where the two disagree, Apple’s agreement governs the subscription itself.
You choose photos and a difficulty level. The app generates a short English picture book: text written to that level, and illustrations drawn from your photos by AI.
Subscriptions are auto-renewing. They renew within 24 hours before the end of the current period unless you turn off auto-renew first. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
You can manage or cancel your subscription in Settings › Apple Account › Subscriptions. Cancelling stops future renewals; it does not refund the current period.
Each plan includes a set number of books per period, shown on the purchase screen. Unused books do not carry over to the next period.
Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s policies. We cannot issue refunds directly.
You keep all rights to the photos you upload and to the books you create. We claim no ownership over either.
By using the app you give us permission to do only what is needed to make your book: send your photos to our service and on to Google’s Gemini API, generate text and illustrations, and return them to your device. We do not use your photos or books to train AI models.
You are responsible for having the right to use the photos you upload — including, where children appear, being their parent or guardian or having that person’s permission.
Illustrations are generated by AI from your photos. They are drawings, not photographs, and will differ from the originals.
AI generation is not perfect. Some photos cannot be illustrated because they are blocked by the content-safety filters of the AI provider; in that case the app keeps your original photo for that page and tells you so.
The difficulty score shown in the app is our own internal measure. It is calculated from checkable rules about vocabulary, sentence length, sentence patterns and tense.
It is not a level in any third-party reading system. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or certified by Reading A-Z, MetaMetrics, or any other reading-assessment organisation, and the score should not be read as equivalent to theirs.
