Getting started

How do I make a book?

Tap + on your shelf, pick six to twelve photos, choose a difficulty level, and tap Create Book. It takes about ninety seconds. Photos from the same day or the same outing make for a better story, because the app writes one continuous story across them.

What do the levels mean?

The level is our own difficulty score, from 1 to 11. Level 1 is single words on a page; level 11 is complex sentences with varied structure. Under each level the app shows how many words per page to expect and what the sentence pattern looks like.

The lowest levels are word books, not stories — one short repeating sentence per page. The app says so when you pick one, so it is not a surprise.

Is this the same as other reading level systems?

No. It is our own measure, computed from vocabulary, sentence length, sentence patterns and tense. It is not affiliated with any reading-assessment organisation and should not be used for placement or diagnosis.

Common questions

One page kept my original photo instead of an illustration.

That page was blocked by the AI provider’s content-safety filter. Rather than leave a blank page, the app keeps your original photo and tells you which pages it happened on, in the reader’s Details sheet.

The book says it did not pass the level check.

The app rewrites text automatically when a page misses the level, up to three times. If it still misses, it tells you instead of pretending it passed. Read it yourself and decide — or edit the page, and the app re-checks while you type.

Can I change the words?

Yes. In the reader, open the menu and choose Edit Text. As you type, the app checks the page against the level and shows what is over the limit. You can save text that does not fit; the book is simply marked as not matching its level.

Can I add a page later?

Yes. Menu, then Insert a Page. Pick a photo, and leave the text empty if you want the app to write it for you — it matches the level and the voice of the rest of the book.

Nothing is read aloud when I tap play.
